Problems loading websites from Safari

I use OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 on an old iMac with Safari as my internet browser, and also Firefox as an occasional alternative. It is now very slow loading websites and sometimes doesn't allow access at all. I can't seem to use Firefox at all!

It has been working fine till a couple of days ago... I've tried a variety of suggested fixes: I uninstalled Flash Player, but that made it worse so I reinstalled it, and i have switched off 'Safari search suggestions' but it still won't allow access to some perfectly respectable websites like Amazon and Hotmail. The only extension I have loaded now is Trovi Web Search but I have not ticked the box next to 'Enable Trovi Search for Safari'. I haven't got any other programs open.

It's driving me nuts!

Any suggestions as to what might be causing the problem, and how to solve it?

Please remove Trovi from the system.

Safari > Preferences > Extensions

To uninstall the extension, select it and click the “Uninstall” button.

2. Safari > Preferences > Search > Search Engine :

Hi Dominic23

Thanks for this advice which I've also followed. I don't really understand the results, but I can see that the memory is almost full - could that be the problem? It still seems odd to me that some websites load fine while others won't load at all.

If you can decipher the comments, I'd be pleased to know your next suggestions.

Many thanks again.

EtreCheck version: 2.9.12 (265)
